Ole Glory’s September Athlete of the Month is Mr. Cole Blanchard. On paper Cole is a man of very few words, so I apologize if this bio is shorter than usual. However, if you know Cole, then you’ll know that in person he is a chatterbox. You can normally find him at the 5:00 am class discussing life’s most recent events with his fellow workout buddies. That 5:00 am crew is his favorite part of Ole Glory!
Cole first learned about CrossFit from his friends, Jordan and Mandi Simoneaux. He ventured out with his wife and joined our gym in July of 2016. Even though the memory of his first workout is fuzzy, he does recall feeling wrecked afterwards. That’s when I “realized how out of shape I was.” It’s been just over 4 years since Cole made CrossFit a priority in his life. Since then he’s noticed an increase in his strength and endurance.
He recently accomplished a long term goal of achieving ring muscle ups. Now his main focus stringing together multiple reps of these ring muscle ups. Handstand walks are next on his list!
Growing up Cole participated in football, baseball and wrestling.
Some of his favorites at the gym include heavy deadlifts and the hero workout Murph; however, he dislikes the benchmark workout Helen.
In Cole’s non-CrossFit life he is 32 years old and married to his wife, Lynzie. Together they have two children, Jack and Sam. When he’s not sweating at the gym you can find him hunting, fishing, camping or enjoying a round of golf with friends.
If anyone is interested in giving CrossFit a try, Cole warns that “it’s addictive”. You might fall in love with a new way of working out and especially the community aspect of the sport that we call CrossFit.
